Support within the home

In-Home Alerts

Alerts for someone nearby.
No monitoring subscription.

When you share a home with someone who needs support, a local alert can let you know when they press a call button, start to get up or open a door. A compatible pager or receiver alerts you so you can go to them.

How an in-home alert works

These systems send an alert within the home or care setting. They do not send it to TASK Connect’s monitoring centre.

1

A button or sensor activates

A person presses for help, a sensor detects movement, a pad senses someone getting up, or a door contact opens.

2

Your device alerts you

The matched pager, receiver or local alarm gives the alert. Available sound, light or vibration options depend on the model.

3

You go to help

A family member or carer nearby checks what has happened and responds. Someone needs to be available to receive and act on the alert.

Choose the situation you want to know about

Our Smart Caregiver and Carelink local alert options include different combinations of sensors, alarms and receivers. We can help match the components to your home.

Requesting help

Call buttons and pagers

A button lets the person ask a nearby carer for help. A compatible pager or receiver gives the alert while the carer is elsewhere in the home.

Ask about call-button and pager kits.

Movement between rooms

Motion sensors

A suitably placed sensor can detect movement near a bed or doorway and send an alert to a matched receiver or pager.

Ask about motion-sensor pager systems and receiver kits.

Getting up

Bed and chair exit alerts

A compatible pressure pad and alarm can alert when pressure is removed as the person gets up. Some combinations send the alert to a pager; others sound locally.

The pad, alarm and receiver must be selected as a compatible set.

An opening door

Door and window alerts

A contact sensor can alert a nearby carer when a fitted door or window opens. A compatible receiver is needed for a wireless alert.

Ask about the right sensor, receiver and placement for the doorway.

In-home alerts or a monitored personal alarm?

In-home alerts

  • The alert goes to a nearby person’s compatible device or sounds locally.
  • A family member or carer needs to be present and able to respond.
  • No TASK Connect monitoring subscription is included or needed for the local alert.

Talk to us about local alerts

A monitored personal alarm

  • A compatible alarm connects to TASK Connect’s monitoring service.
  • Monitoring staff handle alerts under the agreed response plan.
  • A separate alarm and monitoring package is needed.

Explore monitored personal alarms

Let’s check the setup before you order

  • What should trigger the alert? A call for help, getting up, movement or a door opening?
  • Who will receive it? Choose a pager, fixed receiver or local alarm suitable for the person responding.
  • Will it work throughout your home? Walls, layout and distance affect wireless range. Test the chosen positions and every place the carer needs to receive alerts.
  • What is included? Check the exact kit, compatible pads or sensors, batteries, power supply and any pairing required.

These are local notification systems. They do not automatically call the emergency services, and a movement or exit alert does not confirm that a fall has happened. They support a person’s care arrangements and need someone available to respond.

A few common questions

Can I receive an alert in another room?

Yes, with a compatible wireless pager or receiver and a suitable tested connection. The effective range depends on the model and the building.

Do these alerts go to TASK Connect?

No. The local systems described here alert someone at the property. Choose a monitored personal alarm package if you want TASK Connect’s monitoring service.

Can I add more sensors later?

Some systems support additional compatible devices. Capacity and pairing differ between models, so check the exact combination with us before buying extra components.

Do I need a telecare service account number?

No TASK Connect monitoring account is needed to buy a standalone local alert system. The shop’s existing-system linking option applies to Telecare peripherals intended for an existing TASK Connect telecare system.
